Our House

If you are looking for a relaxing, friendly, informal atmosphere in which to learn English we will be delighted to welcome you to our very comfortable, modern detached house, which is quietly situated in a delightful village just 5km from Sevenoaks, which itself is just 31 minutes by train from Charing Cross in the centre of London.
What will you receive?

- You have your own centrally-heated room with colour TV and a desk for further study and/or revision.
- You have three meals a day - breakfast, lunch and evening meal.
- You eat all your meals with us in a home from home atmosphere.
- In addition to having English lessons, you have unlimited opportunity to improve your English by speaking with us during your spare time.
- You have your own key and free access.
- When you want to visit London, I will happily provide a free taxi service between our house and Sevenoaks station.
Incidentally, the two other bedrooms in the house are used for bed and breakfast guests. So if you only want to come for a holiday or you know someone who wants to come to a beautiful part of England for a holiday, then have a look at our Bed and Breakfast pages.
James speaks French, Italian and Spanish, but only to bed and breakfast guests. After all, YOU will be here to speak ENGLISH!
What's the food like?
A recent British Council survey of English language students studying in Britain revealed that only thirty per cent of students said they liked British cuisine.
All I can say is they should have come to us! All the food is homemade with fresh produce. Sometimes James cooks but usually it's Wendy. ALL the 300 plus students who have stayed with us have been more than happy with the food we have given them.

We try to let you sample real English food such as:
- Shepherds' Pie
- Lancashire Hot-Pot
- Fish Pie
- Toad-in-the-hole (if you don't know it, don't translate it literally!)
- Fish and Chips
- Chicken and Ham Pie etc.
But that's not all! If you stay for longer than a week, you will probably be offered Indian or Thai food (James' specialities). But don't worry, it's not compulsory!
We never forget that YOU are the boss, and while we try to give you an English experience in England (and yes, Indian and Thai food is very popular in England), you don't have to do or eat anything you don't want to - and that includes eating British beef!
Vegetarian options are available since Wendy is a vegetarian, but James is most definitely not!
Our garden
This is Wendy's pride and joy and she spends as much time in it as she can.
And during the summer, when it's warm enough (and it often is!) we have our lessons outside, too.
Not only that, we often have a barbecue on summer evenings or at weekends.
